Anxiety, By Google s Definition - 809 Words

Anxiety, by Google’s definition, is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about an event or an uncertain outcome. Psychiatrically speaking, it is a nervous disorder characterized by a state of excessive uneasiness and apprehension, typically with compulsive behavior or panic attacks. Those who suffer from anxiety may not even know that they do. What they do and feel all seems like the normal to them, but every once in a while they may notice that everyone else seems to have a certain act to them that said person cannot portrait. Anxiety often results in compulsive behavior. One may wake in the morning and have their whole day already planned out for them. Reason being is that they have a certain routine that they go through almost every day however it is scheduled in their mind. Besides doing the same things over and over every day, other compulsive behaviors include avoiding cracks on the sidewalk, avoiding contact with others, a problem with change, perfectionism, etc. If we take a couple of examples from the movie â€Å"As Good as it Gets (1997)† you could get an understanding of how one with anxiety thinks and acts. In the movie, the main character Melvin Udall is a misunderstood, as well as misunderstanding, person who goes through many of problems without an understanding of why. If you watched the movie you will notice that Melvin doesn’t have any friends.
